NBA EASTERN AND WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2015 – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Zach Randolph today were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Jan. 26, through Sunday, Feb. 1.

Irving led the league in scoring at 31.5 ppg, as he helped the Cavaliers to a 4-0 week.  Irving, who shot 51.2 percent (22-of-43) from three-point range, added 5.3 apg, 3.5 rpg, and 1.75 spg.  During a 99-94 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 28, Irving connected on 11-of-19 three-pointers en route to a career-high 55 points.  Irving and the Cavaliers have won 10 straight games.

Randolph averaged 20.5 points (10^th in the Western Conference) and 13.8 rebounds (second in the Western Conference) as he helped the Grizzlies to a 4-0 record.  Randolph recorded a point-rebound double-double in all four games, extending his streak of consecutive games with a double-double to 12.  On Jan. 31, Randolph contributed 21 points and 18 rebounds as Memphis topped the Oklahoma City Thunder 85-74.

Jan. 27 @ Detroit: Tallied 38 points and added six assists and three steals in a 103-95 win over the Pistons.

Jan. 28 vs. Portland: Connected on 11-of-19 three-pointers en route to a career-high 55 points in a 99-94 win over the Trail Blazers.

Jan. 30 vs. Sacramento: Scored 21 points and added six assists in a 101-90 win over the Kings.   

Jan. 31 @ Minnesota: Contributed 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 106-90 win over the Timberwolves.

Jan. 26 vs. Orlando: Posted 24 points, 10 rebounds and six assists during a 103-94 win over the Magic.  

Jan. 27 @ Dallas: Tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 109-90 win over the Mavericks.

Jan. 29 vs. Denver: Scored 15 points and pulled down 17 rebounds during a 99-69 win over the Nuggets.      

Jan. 31 vs. Oklahoma City: Posted his fourth double-double of the week with 21 points and 18 rebounds during a 85-74 win over the Thunder.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta’s Paul Millsap, Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, Miami’s Hassan Whiteside, New York’s Carmelo Anthony, Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge, and Toronto’s Lou Williams.

ATLANTA’S BUDENHOLZER AND GOLDEN STATE’S KERR NAMED

NBA EASTERN AND WESTERN CONFERENCE COACHES OF THE MONTH

NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2015 – The Atlanta Hawks’ Mike Budenholzer and the Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr today were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for games played in January. 

Budenholzer coached the Hawks to the best undefeated record in a calendar month in NBA history (17-0) and led them to the best mark in the NBA for the second consecutive month (December, 14-2). The Hawks ranked second in the league in point differential (+11.9) and field goal percentage (.481) in January. Atlanta held opponents to 93.7 points per game, good for fifth in the NBA, and surrendered 100 points in just four of 17 contests. Overall, the Hawks have won a franchise-record 19 straight games and own the NBA’s best record (40-8) this late in a season for the first time since moving to Atlanta in 1968.

Kerr guided the Warriors to the best January record in the West at 12-3. Golden State led the NBA in scoring (116.2 ppg), field goal percentage (.485) and point differential (+14.0). The Warriors went 10-1 at Oracle Arena, improving their home record to a league-best 22-2 for the season. Golden State’s 37-8 record paces the West and is the best start in the franchise’s 69-year history.

Budenholzer and Kerr will coach the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star teams, respectively, after clinching the best records in their conferences through games of Feb. 1.  The 64th NBA All-Star Game, set for Sunday, Feb. 15 in New York City, will be seen by fans in 215 countries and territories and will be heard in 47 languages. TNT will televise the All-Star Game for the 13th consecutive year, marking Turner Sports' 30th year of NBA All-Star coverage.

          Lunes: La fuerte nevada que arropó parte de los Estados Unidos obligó a la NBA a cancelar los juegos de Portland en Brooklyn y Sacramento en New York. Anthony Davis echó 32 en la victoria 99-74 de los Pelicans sobre los 76ers. Zach Randolph anotó 24 con 10 rebotes en la victoria 103-94 de Memphis sobre Orlando. OKC venció 92-84 a los Wolves, los Clippers derrotaron 102-98 a Denver y Boston derrotó 99-90 a los Jazz gracias a 19 puntos de Tayshaun Prince.

          Martes: Zach Randolph anotó 22 con 10 rebotes para ayudar a Memphis vencer 109-90 a los Mavs. Barea coló 5 puntos con 2 asistencias en 15 minutos. Los Mavs vencieron 93-72 al Heat gracias a 20 puntos con 6 bombazos del dominicano Charlie Villanueva. En choque de Boricuas, Napier inició el juego, colando 8 puntos con 2 rebotes y 2 asistencias en 17 minutos mientras que Barea echó 5 puntos con 4 asistencias y 2 rebotes en 18 minutos. Michael Carter-Williams logró un triple-double con 17 puntos, 10 rebotes y 10 asistencias en la victoria 103-94 de los 76ers sobre los Wolves. Los Cavs ganaron su novena al hilo al vencer 101-90 a los Kings con 23 puntos de Love y 19 de LeBron. Dallas le propinó la octava derrota consecutiva a Orlando al vencerlos 108-93. En otro choque de Boricuas, Barea echó 10 puntos con un robo de balón en 18 minutos mientras que Harkless anotó 5 con robo de balón, 2 tapones, asistencia y 2 rebotes en 24 minutos. Memphis ganó su sexta al hilo al dominar 85-74 con 21 puntos y 18 rebotes de Zach Randolph. Los Clippers derrotaron a los Spurs 105-85 con 31 puntos de Blake Griffin. Los Hornets derrotaron 104-86 a Denver, los Warriors vencieron 106-87 a los Suns, Milwaukee derrotó 95-88 a Portland y los Kings derrotaron 99-94 a los Pacers.

          Domingo: El centro Hassan Whiteside sigue causando una buena impresión cuando coló 20 puntos con 3 tapones en la victoria 83-75 de Miami sobre Boston. Napier inició nuevamente, aportando 5 puntos con 4 rebotes, 3 asistencias y un robo de balón en 21 minutos. Carmelo Anthony coló 31 puntos con 8 rebotes, 2 asistencias y un robo de balón en la victoria 92-80 de los Knicks sobre los Lakers.
