UFC® ANNOUNCES SECOND QUARTER 2019 EVENT DATES

ESPN+ and ESPN to Carry Seven UFC Fight Night Events from April through June 2019

LAS VEGAS – UFC®, the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization, today announced the dates and distribution plans for UFC events in the second quarter 2019. The schedule is a continuation of the historic multi-year agreement between UFC and The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-To-Consumer & International segment and ESPN beginning in 2019 that makes ESPN+ and ESPN the exclusive media homes of UFC in the United States. The exact locations of the Q2 events will be announced at a later date. 

The first of five second-quarter “UFC Fight Night on ESPN+” takes place Saturday, April 20 on the premium multi-sport, direct-to-consumer video service. ESPN+ will also carry Saturday UFC events on May 4, May 18, June 1 and June 22, with ESPN+ exclusively streaming all bouts for each event.

ESPN linear networks will air two “UFC Fight Night on ESPN” in the second quarter, on Saturday, April 27 and Saturday, June 29. The main card for both events will be televised live to a national audience exclusively on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, while the prelims and early prelims will be streamed live on ESPN+. 

Other confirmed events for the second quarter 2019 include three UFC Pay-Per-Views: UFC 236 on Saturday, April 13; UFC 237 on Saturday, May 11; and UFC 238 on Saturday, June 8. ESPN linear networks will televise the prelims for each of these events.

Starting in January 2019, ESPN+ and ESPN will be the exclusive digital and linear distributors of UFC in the U.S., showcasing 42 live events, 30 of which will feature a full card of 12 UFC bouts.  Starting January 19, ESPN+, the recently-launched multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service, will offer 20 exclusive events and all preliminary fights for “UFC Fight Night on ESPN+” programs, and ESPN linear networks will broadcast 10 exclusive “UFC Fight Night on ESPN” events, as well as all UFC pay-per-view preliminary fights.

UFC FIGHT PASS® and Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions Reach Multi-Year Live Streaming Agreement

Exclusive Programming Includes up to 72 Boxing Events Through 2021

First Event will Stream Live on Jan. 31 at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT

LAS VEGAS – UFC® and Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions have reached a new agreement to live stream up to 72 professional boxing events over the next three years on UFC FIGHT PASS®, the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports.

The inaugural event in the RJJ Boxing series on UFC FIGHT PASS will stream January 31, starting at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, live from Viejas Casino & Resort in Alpine, California.  WBO #2-rated world title challenger, “Mighty” Aston Palicte (24-2-1, 20 KOs), and unbeaten WBO #4 ranked Jose “Chiquiro” Martinez (20-0-2, 13 KOs) will headline in the 12-round World Boxing Organization Junior Bantamweight Title Eliminator.

Roy Jones Jr., a multi-time world champion and future boxing Hall of Famer, formed the Las Vegas-based promotional company RJJ Boxing Promotions three years ago with Las Vegas entrepreneur Keith Veltre and developed a growing stable of fighters in a short period of time.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Roy Jones Jr. and I’m excited to be in business with him,” said UFC President Dana White. “Everyone knows I’m looking to get into boxing, and I look forward to the future with Roy and using FIGHT PASS to live stream these exciting fights to our subscribers.”

In all, FIGHT PASS will offer more than1,000 hours of live and exclusive combat sports programming in 2019, providing fans with a front row seat to a broad spectrum of competitive fighting, including mixed martial arts, boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and more.

The preliminary 2019 programming schedule calls for FIGHT PASS to live stream fights from a minimum of 20 combat sports promotions. ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING

Complementing the live event schedule on FIGHT PASS will be a lineup of original programming featuring in-depth interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and award-winning documentaries. FIGHT PASS will also premiere ON THE LINE, a new betting show that will help educate fight fans about placing wagers on UFC bouts, featuring analysis from professional bettors and oddsmakers. An Olympic wrestling gold medal winner, Cejudo (13-2, fighting out of Phoenix, Ariz.) put on his most spectacular performance to date in August when he dethroned dominant flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson. During his UFC career, he has also earned impressive victories over Sergio Pettis, Wilson Reis, Jussier Formiga and Chris Cariaso. Cejudo now looks to make his first successful title defense in the biggest fight of his career.

Dillashaw (17-3, fighting out of Angels Camp, Calif.) aims to make history by joining Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier as only the third fighter to simultaneously hold championships in two UFC divisions. Dillashaw most recently defended his bantamweight belt against heated rival Cody Garbrandt by sensational KO. He also holds incredible wins against Renan Barao, John Lineker and Raphael Assuncao. Dillashaw is now poised to etch his name among the all-time UFC greats.

Looking for her first win at flyweight, VanZant (7-4, fighting out of Portland, Ore.) finally returns to action after a year off due to injury. A fan favorite for her time on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars where she placed second, VanZant is still one of the youngest fighters on the roster. She intends to show off her constantly-evolving mixed martial arts skills by outdoing her highlight reel knockout of Bec Rawlings and earning the third post-fight bonus of her career. 

Ostovich (4-4, fighting out of Waianae, Hawaii) looks to start 2019 off on a high note by earning her second UFC win in the biggest opportunity of her career. A quarterfinalist on her season of The Ultimate Fighter, Ostovich has won half of her fights by submission, most recently tapping out fellow TUF competitor Karine Gevorgyan in under two minutes. She is now positioned to break into the top-15 rankings with an impressive win.

TSN and RDS Extend Broadcast Partnership with UFC®

– New multi-year agreement includes extensive broadcast and digital rights across TSN, RDS and Bell Media platforms 

TORONTO (December 11, 2018) – TSN, RDS, and UFC®, the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization, have agreed on a multi-year renewal in which the networks continue to serve as the broadcast partners of UFC in Canada. The agreement, which includes extensive broadcast and digital rights, was announced live from Toronto on SPORTSCENTRE in advance of one of UFC’s biggest events of the year, UFC® 231: HOLLOWAY vs. ORTEGA, hosted at Scotiabank Arena.

Under the terms of the agreement, TSN and RDS are the home in Canada for 22 UFC Fight Night main cards and late preliminaries, as well as preliminary fights ahead of UFC’s 12 pay-per-view eventsTSN and RDS will also broadcast Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, focused on finding the next generation of UFC talent.

TSN and RDS will also distribute UFC content beyond linear broadcasts, including across social channels and via other Bell Media platforms, such as the short-form video content hub SnackableTV. The all-new Crave will feature a UFC collection where fans can stream content on demand, and as a result of UFC’s exclusive agreement with ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States, TSN viewers will also have access to original UFC content from ESPN.

UFC en Directo: Resultados de UFC 194: Mcgregor vs Aldo

Conor McGregor (19-2) no tan solo habla mucho si no que también pega duro y lo que dice con su la de comer lo cumple con la de pegar y por tal razón solo necesito de un puño para vencer a un casi invencible José Aldo (25-2). Con un MGM Grand Garden Arena abarrotado de personas, al fin se dio la tan esperada pelea entre McGregor vs Aldo para unificar la faja Featherweight de la UFC. Aldo no había perdido desde noviembre del 2005, logrando 18 victorias al hilo, pero también había estado inactivo desde el 25 octubre del 2014 cuando derrotó a Chad Mendes por decisión unánime para retener su faja. McGregor, quién prometió acabar con el reinado de Aldo y vencerlo antes de los cuatro minutos del primer asalto, se convirtió en campeón interino al vencer a Chad Mendes por TKO a los 4:57 del segundo asalto en julio. McGregor llegaba a la pelea estelar del evento con 14 victorias consecutivas en MMA. Con esas rachas y el historial de estos duros del MMA esperábamos una guerra a cinco asalto que fuera nominada la mejor de todos los tiempos. Pues eso no pasó. McGregor necesitó solo una izquierda para mandar al suelo a José Aldo y apuntarse el triunfo vía KO a solo 13 segundos de comenzada la pelea. McGregor establece la marca de UFC con la victoria más rápida en una pelea por el campeonato en UFC. McGregor nuevamente cumple su palabra y ahora se convierte en la cara de UFC y un “target” para todo aquel que quiera callarle la boca como  Rafael Dos Anjos, Nick Díaz, Urijah Faber e inclusive el mismo Aldo. Queda esperar cual será el camino de McGregor luego de que posiblemente reciba una suspensión de 6 meses por una lesión ocurrida en la pelea (muñeca izquierda). De seguro el 2016 traerá otra buena pelea de McGregor. Para Aldo, llega a final de su racha de 7 defensas de campeonato victoriosas y comienza el conteo para una revancha o eventualmente el retiro de MMA. ¡Suerte para ambos!
En la semi-estelar otro nuevo campeón se coronó en UFC y este se llama Luke Rockhold (15-2), quien literalmente abusó del ex invicto Chris Weidman (13-1) por cuatro rounds hasta que el arbitro decidió detener la pelea a los 3:12 del cuarto asalto. Rockhold dominó con poderoso striking desde el comienzo a un ex campeón que se vio desarmado y sin ningún plan de pelea. Rockhold se coronó nuevo campeón Middleweight de UFC y establece una marca más peleas finalizadas por la vía rápida con 12 (UFC/Strike Force) en los pesos medianos. Esta fue la Fight of the Night mientras que los bonus del Performance of the Night se lo llevaron Conor McGregor y Leonardo Santos. McGregor se llevó $500 mil dólares sin contar los bonos. ¡Wow!
En otra peleas del Main Card; el cubano Yoel Romero (11-1) escapó de una dura batalla ante Jacare Souza (22-4) vía decisión dividida (29-27, 28-29 y 29-28). Romero salió fuerte los primeros rounds y conectó un tremendo Back Fist Punch, pero se quedó sin gasolina en los últimos asaltos lo que aprovechó Souza para cerrar con fuerza la pelea de pesos medianos. Romero lleva 7 victorias al hilo y sigue escalando en ruta a una oportunidad titular. En una batalla Welterweight, Demain Maia (22-6) derrotó por decisión unánime (30-26, 30-25 y 30-25) a Gunnar Nelson (14-2-1). Maia simplemente le dio una salsa a Nelson de campana a campana. Max Holloway (15-3) ganó su octava consecutiva al derrotar vía decisión unánime (30-27, 30-27 y 29-28) a Jeremy Stephens (24-12). Holloway sobre pasa la racha de 7 victorias al hilo de José Aldo en el Featherweight y es otro que se alista para retar en algún momento a McGregor.

En las Preliminares de UFC 194 en Las Vegas, Nevada, Leonardo Santos (15-4-1) derrotó vía TKO a los 3:26 del primer asalto con un solido puño a la barbilla de Kevin Lee (11-2). Santos salió corriendo como un loco de la jaula hacia las gradas en celebración de su impresionante victoria. Warlley Alves (11-0) mantuvo su invicto al quitarle el invicto a Colby Covington (8-1) con una impresionante Guillotine Choke a los 1:26 del primer asalto. La boricua Tecia Torres (7-0) demostró su corazón, su cría y su habilidad boxística una vez más al derrotar vía decisión unánime (30-27, 30-27 y 30-27) a Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger (6-2). Urijah Faber (33-8) usó su veteranía y maña junto a una combinación de rodillazos, codazos y takedowns para vencer por decisión unánime (29-28, 29-28 y 30-27) a Frankie Saenz (11-3) en una batalla estelar de las Preliminares. Faber retó al ganador de TJ Dillashaw y Dominick Cruz por la faja Bantamweight. Dillashaw es el actual campeón y ex compañero de entrenamientos de Faber. Será interesante ver si Dillashaw retiene y acepta el resto de Faber. ¡Esto se pone bueno!
Como preámbulo del UFC 194, la noche antes del evento se celebró el TUF 22 Finale. Esta fue la pelea final de las batallas que ocurrieron en The Ultimate Fighter Season 22: McGregor vs Faber. Aparte de esa batalla final, también se incluyó un tremendo duelo entre Frankie Edgar (19-4-1) vs Chad Mendes (17-4) en el peso Featherweight. Para sorpresa de muchos que esperaban que esta pelea se fuera a la distancia, la misma solo duró hasta los 2:28 del primer asalto cuando Edgar le conectó tremendo derechazo seguido de una izquierda a Mendes para adjudicarse la victoria por KO. Edgar no perdió la oportunidad de suplicarle a Dana White que lo deje enfrentarse a Conor McGregor luego del triunfo. ¡No sabe na! Ryan Hall (5-1), quien ocupó el lugar de Saul Rogers en la Final por este tener problemas con su visa, se apuntó una impresionante victoria vía decisión unánime (30-27, 30-27 y 30-26) sobre Artem Lobov (12-10-1-NC). Lobov, quien es parte del grupo de trabajo de McGregor, llegó a la final propinando tres KO corridos, pero Hall usó sus habilidades de lucha para mantenerlos en el suelo, tratar de aplicarle alguna llave de sumisión y lograr un pounding efectivo. Lobov no tuvo ni un minuto de break para soltar sus poderosas manos ante Hall y por ende el norteamericano se lleva el premio de The Ultimate Fighter. El norteamericano Julian Erosa (15-3) derrotó a Marcin Wrzosek (10-4) vía decisión dividida (29-28, 28-29 y 29-28) en una pelea sumamente cerrada. Team Faber se apuntó dos solidas victorias ante Team McGregor en la noche final. Ambas por decisión.

En otras peleas; Tony Ferguson (20-3) se apuntó una impresionante victoria vía D’Arce Choke a los 2:54 del segundo asalto sobre Edson Barboza (16-4). Ferguson logra su séptima victoria al hilo en el Lightweight y a su vez se lleva el premio del Fight of the Night. Sin duda fue una pelea sangrienta y dura de principio a fin. Evan Dunham (17-6) derrotó vía decisión unánime (30-26, 30-27 y 30-26) a Joe Lauzon (25-11).  El japonés Tatsuya Kawajiri (35-8-2) derrotó vía decisión unánime (30-27, 30-27 y 30-27) a Jason Knight (16-2) al dominarlo en el suelo. Estas batallas fueron en el The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan en Las Vegas, Nevada.
