NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2019 – The Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo lead theirrespective conferences in the first fan returns of NBA All-Star Voting 2019 presented by Google.

Fans account for 50 percent of the vote to determine the 10 starters for the 68^th NBA All-Star Game, which will take place at SpectrumCenter in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on TNT. All current NBA players and a media panel each account for 25 percent of the vote, with every voter completing one full ballot featuring two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference. Voting for fans, players and media will conclude on Monday, Jan. 21 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

James, a 14-time NBA All-Star and three-time Kia NBA All-Star Most Valuable Player, leads all players with 1,083,363 votes to earnthe top spot in the Western Conference frontcourt in the first fan returns.  Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Dončić ranks second in theWest frontcourt with 679,839 votes, followed closely by the Golden State Warriors’ Kevin Durant (659,968).  The New OrleansPelicans’ Anthony Davis (605,417) and the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Paul George (580,055) round out the top five in that positiongroup.

Golden State’s Stephen Curry holds first place among West guards with 793,111 votes. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Derrick Rose issecond with 698,086 votes. The Houston Rockets’ James Harden (541,606) and Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook (459,792) arethird and fourth, respectively, among West guards.

Antetokounmpo, an NBA All-Star in each of the previous two seasons, is the top vote-getter among all Eastern Conference players, receiving 991,561 votes in the frontcourt group.  Joining Antetokounmpo at the top of the East frontcourt are second-place KawhiLeonard of the Toronto Raptors (774,172) and third-place Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers (648,002).

In the East guard group, the Boston Celtics’ Kyrie Irving leads with 910,329 votes. The Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade is the second-leading guard with 409,156 votes, while the Charlotte Hornets’ Kemba Walker (319,519) ranks third and Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons(259,993) is fourth.

The 2019 NBA All-Star Game will follow last year’s format: The two team captains will draft rosters from the pool of players voted asstarters and reserves in each conference, making their picks regardless of conference affiliation. The captains will be the All-Starstarter from each conference who receives the most fan votes in his conference. Details about the NBA All-Star Draft will be announced at a later date.

TNT will reveal the NBA All-Star Game starters, including the two captains, on Thursday, Jan. 24 during TNT NBA Tip-Offpresented by Autotrader, featuring Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith.  The network will announcethe reserves, as selected by NBA head coaches, on Thursday, Jan. 31 during TNT NBA Tip-Off.

After all votes are tallied, players will be ranked in each conference by position (guard and frontcourt) within each of the three voting groups – fan votes, player votes and media votes.  Each player’s score will be calculated by averaging his weighted rank from the fan votes, the player votes and the media votes.  The two guards and three frontcourt players with the best score in each conference will be named NBA All-Star Game starters.  Fan voting will serve as the tiebreaker for players in a position group with the same score.

NBA All-Star Voting 2019 presented by Google runs from Dec. 25 – Jan. 21.  The two remaining fan voting updates will be shared on Thursday, Jan. 10 and Thursday, Jan. 17. 

During the voting period, five “2-for-1 Days” allow fans to have their votes count twice.  The 2-for-1 Days, which are designated 12 a.m. – 11:59 p.m. ET, take place today, tomorrow, Jan. 10, Jan. 11 and Jan. 21 through all voting platforms.

 

How Fans Can Vote

• NBA.com voting page at NBA.com/vote: Fill out one full ballot per day (per day is defined as once every 24 hours) onNBA.com/vote from a desktop or mobile browser.  Fans can select up to two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference when choosing starters.

• NBA App: Access the ballot and vote through the app, which is available on Android and iOS. Fans can fill out one full ballot per day and select up to two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference when choosing starters.

• Google: Vote on Google.com or the Google Search App by searching “NBA Vote” and “NBA All-Star Vote” or simply by searching for your favorite player or team. Fans may submit votes for 10 unique players per day.

• The Google Assistant: NBA All-Star Voting is available on the Google Assistant for the first time.  Vote via any GoogleAssistant-enabled device by saying, “Google, talk to NBA All-Star.”  Fans may submit votes for up to 10 unique players per day.  The Google Assistant is available on laptops, phones, speakers, tablets and other connected devices.

No hay dudas que estuvo de locos esta 1era semana en la nueva temporada de la NBA. Entre debuts de jugadores estrellas en sus nuevos uniformes, desde pelea, pobre defensiva, lluvia de bombazos y un aumento en la ofensiva. Pero de más está decir que estuvo buenísimo el comienzo de temporada y lo que nos espera promete mucho. Demos un repaso a lo sucedido durante la semana.

LeBron James debutó con el uniforme de los Lakers con derrotas ante Portland y Houston. 26 puntos con 12 rebotes y 6 asistencias ante Portland, y 24 puntos, 5 rebotes y 5 asistencias ante Houston. Pero la mezcla de jóvenes y veteranos aun están buscando su norte. Aparte de eso, tenemos que Ingram le dio por buscar pelea al igual que Rondo y Paul. Ingram se ganó 4 juegos de suspensión por ser el creo  el revolú, Paul se llevó dos juegos de suspensión y Rondo 3. Kawhi Leonard debutó con los Raptors y los mismos se ganaron a Cleveland, Boston y Washington. Leonard anotó 24 con 12 rebotes ante los Cavs y 31 puntos con 10 rebotes ante Boston. No jugó ante los Wizards, no problem, Lowry anotó 28 y repartió 12 asistencias. Toronto con buen arranque y mucha energía en ambos lados de la cancha. Al que cambiaron por Leonard, DeMar DeRozan, también debuto en nuevo uniforme al ayudar a los Spurs vencer a los Wolves con 28 puntos. DeRozan también anotó 28 en la derrota ante Portland. DeRozan se ve jugando más libre y buscando más el triple en San Antonio. 

Denver arrancó 3-0, dejando a sus oponentes (Clippers, Suns y Warriors) en menos de 100 puntos. Jokic fue su MVP con un mega triple double de 35 puntos, 12 rebotes, 11 asistencias y hasta 5 robos. Los Warriors ganaron dos de sus tres juegos gracias a 32 puntos con 5 bombazos de Curry y gracias a un tip de Jerebko faltando 0.2 ante su antiguo equipo de los Jazz. Ese juego se terminó 124-123 luego que los Jazz anotaran 81 puntos en la 1era mitad. Curry anotó 31 y 30 ante los Jazz y Denver. Claro está, la noche inaugural los Warriors recibieron los hermosos anillos de campeonato como premio de haber barrido a LeBron James y los Cavaliers en la Final. Los Clippers ganaron también dos de tres juegos al derrotar a OKC y Houston gracias a la dupleta de Harris y Gallinari. OKC se fue 0-3, dos de ellos sin Westbrook, y han lucido patéticos. Portland venció a los Lakers y Spurs con Lillard anotando 28 y 29 puntos. Dallas se apuntó su primer triunfo de la temporada al vencer 140-136 a los Wolves con el novato Doncic anotando 26. Houston perdió dos de tres juegos a pesar de 36 y 31 puntos de Harden. 

Los Hornets ganaron 2 de 3 juegos con un Kemba Walker que anotó 41, 26 y 39 puntos. El novato Trae Young le dio la 1era victoria a los Hawks al anotar 35 puntos ante los Cavs. En ese juego los Hawks lograron una marca de franquicia con 22 bombazos anotados. Anthony Davis abrió la temporada como todo un MVP con 32 puntos, 16 rebotes, 8 asistencias, 3 robos de balón y 3 tapones en la victoria 131-112 ante Houston, y 25 puntos con 10 rebotes, 6 asistencias, 2 cortes de balón y dos tapón en la victoria 149-129 sobre Sacramento. AD no lo hizo solo por Mirotic lo ayudó con 30 y 36 puntos. Este equipo de los Pelicans puede molestar mucho si AD sigue matando así. Boston ganó dos juegos de sus tres gracias a juegos de 23 y 24 puntos de Tatum. Tim Hardaway con 31, 29 y 24 puntos tuvo una buena arrancada al igual que LeVert de los Nets con juegos de 27 y 28 puntos. Joel Embiid lidero a los 76ers a ganar dos de tres juegos con tres double-double (23 con 10 rebotes ante Boston, 30 con 12 rebotes ante los Bulls, y 32 con 10 rebotes ante Orlando). No podemos olvidar que los Pistons ganaron sus dos juegos gracias a la producción de la dupla Drummond y Griffin mientras que los Bucks hicieron lo mismo liderados por Giannis Antetokounmpo.

• John Holland (Cavs)- solo jugó un minuto en la derrota en Toronto.
• Maurice Harkless (Portland)-victoria ante Lakers (5-3 FG, 2-1 3PT, 7 puntos, 2 asistencias, 3 tapones y 6 rebotes en 18 minutos) y victoria ante San Antonio (8 rebotes, asistencia, robo de balón, 5-2 FG, 3-1 3PT y 5 puntos en 20 minutos).
