#ClutchPUR Sigue abierta la puerta para Puerto Rico rumbo al Mundial FIBA 2019

El equipo Nacional de Baloncesto Masculino sigue su buen paso para lograr una de las 7 plazas disponibles en las Americas, que se juegan en los clasificatorios FIBA rumbo al Mundial de Baloncesto 2019. Los varones buscan emular el logro de las féminas que alcanzaron su pase al Mundial, y aunque se despidieron con marca de 0-3, fueron de menos a más luchando para demostrar que pueden estar a ese nivel. A ellas le queda ahora trabajar fuerte para volver, mientras que a los varones boricuas solo les queda seguir ganando todos o casi todos de sus juegos restantes para ganarse su pasaje al Mundial FIBA. Puerto Rico ahora mismo se encuentra en el 3er lugar del Grupo E con marca de 5-3, arriba de ellos está Argentina 7-1 y USA en el 1er lugar con 7-1. Completando el Grupo E está Uruguay con 5-3, México con 3-5 y Panamá con 3-5. En el Grupo F está como líder Canadá con 7-1, Venezuela con 7-1, Brasil 6-2, República Dominicana 5-3, Islas Vírgenes 2-6 y Chile 1-7. Las Américas tiene 7 plazas disponibles, entran los 1eros tres de cada grupo y el mejor 4to lugar de cualquiera de los dos grupos. La 5ta ventana comienza del 26 de noviembre al 3 de diciembre del 2018. 

Repasemos los sucedido en esta 4ta ventana...

Grupo F

Venezuela derrotó 87-73 a Islas Vírgenes con un 1er cuarto que ganaron 22-11 y un 3er cuarto que ganaron 25-14. Ni el apagón en la cancha pudo detener a Venezuela que contó con 12 puntos junto a 9 asistencias de Gregory Vargas junto a 14 puntos Jhornan Zamora. Venezuela dominó los rebotes 56-39 rebotes. Walter Hodge anotó 20 y Giorgio Milligan 26 con 10 rebotes. Venezuela luego necesitó de tiempo extra para derrotar 79-78 a la República Dominicana. Nestor Colmenares fue quien rompió el empate a 75 y a su vez, anotó 16 puntos. José Vargas anotó 21 con 6 rebotes y Heissler Guillant aportó 16 puntos con 7 asistencias. Victor Liz lideró a los Dominicanos con 25 puntos seguido de 17 puntos de Elis Baez. Canadá derrotó 85-77 a Brasil gracias a un juegazo de Kelly Olynyk con 20 puntos, 19 rebotes y 4 robos de balón. Cory Joseph aportó 16 puntos con 10 asistencias a la victoria mientras que otro NBA, Tristan Thompson aportó 10 puntos con 12 rebotes. Por Brasil, Leandro Barbosa anotó 19 puntos. Canadá luego derrotó sin problemas 84-61 a Chile gracias al ataque de 17 puntos, 5 rebotes y 3 tapones de Joel Anthony.  Dominicana dominó 71-46 a Chile. Victor Liz anotó 17 y el prospecto Angel Delgado anotó 9 con 12 rebotes y 2 tapones. Brasil tuvo una fácil victoria 20-0 ante las Islas Vírgenes. Islas Vírgenes tuvo problemas con su vuelo y no se presentó a jugar, por ende le confiscaron el juego e impusieron el marcador que dicta la regla en FIBA. 

Grupo E

Puerto Rico con su Clemente lleno derrotó 82-73 a Panamá en un reñido encuentro. José Juan Barea anotó 18 con 7 asistencias, Gian Clavel anotó 14 y Angel Daniel Vassallo anotó 11. Daniel Giron con 17 puntos y Javier Carter con 16 puntos, liderando el ataque panameño. Puerto Rico por poco bota el juego desde el tiro libre al tirar 24-15 para un 63% y a su vez, cometer 16 turnovers. Dos areas que los Boricuas tienen que trabajar. Puerto Rico luego viajó hasta Argentina para agarrar una pela 106-84 ante los Gauchos. Luis Scola los mató con 20 puntos junto a 9 rebotes mientras que Nicolas Laprovittola les bailó el tango con 21 puntos junto a 5 bombazos. Gabriel Deck también maltrató a los boricuas con 21 puntos junto a 11 rebotes. Barea fue el mejor de Puerto Rico con 24 puntos junto a 5 asistencias. Boricuas cometieron 16 turnovers vs a solo 15 asistencias. Gian Clavel anotó 13 y David Huertas anotó 10. Argentina también derrotó a México por marcador 78-74 gracias a 26 puntos con 8 asistencias de Facundo Campazzo. Gustavo Ayon fue el mejor por México con 18 puntos y 12 rebotes. Uruguay sorprendió 63-60 a México con un 4to parcial que ganaron 21-13 y gracias a 18 puntos, 8 rebotes y 3 robos de balón de Esteban Batista. Gustavo Ayón tuvo otro buen juego en causa perdida al anotar 21 con 8 rebotes y 2 cortes de balón. USA con su juego colectivo ofensivo y su aguerrida defensiva destrozó 114-57 a Uruguay, y desmanteló 78-48 a Panamá. Ante Uruguay repartieron 30 asistencias vs 8 turnovers, y ante Panamá Reggie Hearn anotó 12.

#ClutchPUR Puerto Rico a buen paso para logar el pase para la Copa Mundial de Baloncesto FIBA 2019

El Equipo Nacional Puertorriqueño de Baloncesto puso a gozar a su gente con dos necesarias victorias para mantener su buen paso rumbo a una de las 7 plazas de FIBA Américas para el Mundial de Baloncesto 2019 en China. En total son 32 equipos y Puerto Rico quiere ser uno de ellos, por eso un país entero abarrotó el Coliseo Roberto Clemente para ver a los suyos. Puerto Rico se apuntó un triunfo cerrado 84-80 ante Cuba como parte de la 3era Ventana Clasificatoria para el Mundial. Puerto Rico no pudo parar al cubano Jasiel Rivero, quien anotó 31 puntos. A pesar de eso, los boricuas escaparon con la victoria gracias a José Juan Barea, quien anotó 8 de sus 15 puntos en el cuarto parcial. David Huertas lideró a Puerto Rico con 18 puntos y fue seguido de 15 puntos de Angel Rodríguez. Aunque los Boricuas no jugaron bien, fueron excelentes en los momentos cruciales.

Puerto Rico cerró la ventana con otra batalla en la guerra deportiva ante México. Los Boricuas derrotaron 84-79 a los mexicanos con otro juego clutch de Barea en los minutos finales. Barea anotó 12 y repartió 11 asistencias, varias de ellas a un Ramón Clemente que anotó 12. Huertas y Gian Clavel lideraron el ataque boricua con 17 puntos cada uno. Los Boricuas repartieron 23 asistencias y solo cometieron 6 turnovers. Bryan Diaz y Ricky Sanchez defendieron bien a Gustavo Ayón al limitarlo a solo 13 puntos aunque recuperó 15 rebotes y repartió 6 asistencias. Francisco Cruz lideró a México con 22 puntos y fue seguido de Mendez con 17 puntos. Uno de los momentos más emotivos fue el retiro de la camiseta que sudó por su patria el gran José "Piculín" Ortiz. Gracias Picu.

En el grupo A la escuadra de Argentina venció 87-62 a Panamá gracias a 20 puntos de Patricio Garino, y derrotó a Uruguay 102-58 con Luis Scola anotando 29 con 11 rebotes. Uruguay derrotó 58-49 a Paraguay mientras que Panamá derrotó 74-67 a Paraguay con Michael Hicks anotando 13. 

En el Grupo B la escuadra de Venezuela dominó 72-56 a Brasil con José Vargas anotando 16 y derrotó 70-51 a Chile con Gregory Echenique anotando 19 con 7 rebotes. Colombia venció a Chile 71-67 con Hansel Atencia anotando 21 con 8 asistencias. Brasil derrotó 98-71 a Colombia liderados por 28 puntos de Vitor Benite y 19 puntos de Marcelinho Huertas. 

En el grupo C México derrotó 78-70 a USA gracias a 24 puntos de Francisco Cruz y 20 de Orlando Mendez. USA dominó 93-62 a Cuba con Reggie Hearn y Xavier Munford anotando 16 cada uno.

En el grupo D la escuadra de Islas Vírgenes venció 84-74 a Bahamas gracias a 22 puntos de Walter Hodge Jr. Buddy Hield anotó 23 por Bahamas. Canadá dominó 97-61 a República Dominicana liderados por 14 puntos con 9 rebotes de Olynyk. Canadá también dominó a Islas Vírgenes por marcador 99-69 con 14 puntos de Kelly Olynyk. Bahamas sorprendió 83-82 a República Dominicana con Buddy Hield y Travis Munnings anotando 19 cada uno. Víctor Liz anotó 23 por Dominicana. 

Así terminó la tabla de Posiciones luego de la Ventana:

60-team lineup complete for Second Round of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers

JULY 2, 2018 MIES (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) - The 60 teams that will compete in the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers are known after the First Round drew to a close on Monday. The results of all games in the First Round - including those against teams that were eliminated - carry over to the Second Round. Here is how the Second Round shapes up:

African Qualifiers

The two (2) highest-placed teams in each group and the best third-placed team (a total of five (5) teams) shall qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. Clickhere for more information.

Americas Qualifiers

The three (3) highest-placed teams from each group and the best 4th-placed team (a total of seven (7) teams) shall qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. Click here for more information.

Asian Qualifiers

The three (3) highest-placed teams from each group and the best 4th-placed team (total of seven (7) teams) shall qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. For the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers, to determine the final standings, the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Host, China, shall not be included. However all results related to the previous games of China in the relevant group shall be taken into account for the final standings. Click here for more information. Teams that were eliminated in the First Round will next play in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers starting in November 2019.

European Qualifiers

The three (3) highest-placed teams from each group (a total of twelve (12) teams) shall qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019. Click here for more information. Teams that were eliminated in the First Round will now play FIBA EuroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers in September 2018.

In the third window, 37 teams progressed to the Second Round. They are: Angola, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Central African Republic (CAF), Chad, Chile, Cote d'Ivoire, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Mali, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Panama, Poland, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Senegal, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Virgin Islands. They join the 23 teams that were the first to clinch their places in the second window in February. They are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Serbia, Spain, Venezuela, Uruguay and USA. The Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers will consist of three windows taking place in September and November 2018 and February 2019. The 31 best teams will join hosts China at the first-ever 32-team FIBA Basketball World Cup, taking place from August 31-September 15, 2019.
