AEW Fyter Fest 2019

AEW Fyter Fest 2019

El Ocean Center en Daytona Beach, Florida, fue la cede del AEW Fyter Fest. El evento comenzó con tres buenas luchas en el Pre-Show. Allie derrotó a Leva Bates, Michael Nakazawa derrotó a Jebailey una magistral lucha Hardcore, y Best Friends derrotó a SCU y Private Party para avanzar al evento All Out y tener un BYE en la primera ronda del torneo para coronar los primeros campeones de Parejas de la AEW. Best Friends se la comió y SCU metió al público.
CIMA se apuntó un tremendo triunfo ante Christopher Daniels en un clásico de lucha. Estos amigos y rivales desde su tiempo en Japón dieron cátedra de buena lucha. CIMA se alzó con el triunfo con tremenda movida final. Riho con una especie de paquetito vence a Yuka Sakazaki y Nyla Rose en una tremenda batalla de mujeres. Estas mujeres siguen dando buenas luchas y sin duda una de las mejores de la cartelera. Nyla Rose se robó el show con tremenda movida aérea. Ese fue el Holy Shit Momement. También se escucharon los gritos eufóricos de los presentes This is Awesome!
Adam Page con su Rite of Passage (Rompe cuello invertida) vence a MJF, Jungle Boy y a Jimmy Havoc. Fue una solida lucha y que dio la oportunidad a estos cuatro talentos jóvenes a lucir. Van a escuchar mucho de ellos. La lucha de Cody Rhodes y Darby Allin termina en empate al acabarse el tiempo. Fue una de las luchas más entretenida de la cartelera, en especial cuando Cody mete adentro de una bolsa de cadáveres a Darby, lo para y le aplica el Disaster Kick. También hubo un momento Holy Shit! Cuando Darby hace una movida aérea hacia las afueras del ring y se dá malamente en la espalda con la equina del ring. Shawn Spears (Ty Dillinger) entró luego de terminada la lucha para atacar con una silla a Cody y lo hizo sangrar malamente. La gente lo aprobó con varios Ten! Ten! Ten!
Vestidos de personajes de Street Fighter, The Elite (Kenny Omega y The Young Bucks), derrotaron a los Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr., Fenix y Laredo Kid) en una magistral lucha. Sin duda la mejor de la noche, logró gritos de This is Awesome! y Fight for ever! en varias ocasiones. Una lucha a otro nivel de principio a fin donde hasta Hadouken hubo. Omega con el One Winged Angel logra la victoria para su equipo. Esta fue la lucha estelar de la cartelera, pero en realidad no lo fue, ya que luego de esta ocurrió la lucha Non-Sanctioned Match entre Jon Moxley (Dean Ambrose) vs Joey Janela.
Jon Moxley y Joey Janel dieron una lucha hardcore extrema. Hubo sillas, escaleras, mesas, panel de alambre de púas, tachuelas y hasta sillas con alambras de púas. Un momento Holy Shit fue cuando Moxley le quita los zapatos a Janel y lo lanza sobre las tachuelas con los pies a la interperie. Janel también tuvo su momento Holy Shit al lanzarse desde el tope de la escalera hacia las afueras. Con una DDT encima de las tachuelas le da el triunfo a Moxley. Luego de la lucha Omega aparece y ataca a Moxley hasta con una guitarra. Estos dos prometen sacarse candela y sin duda debe ser un main event para la próxima.

AEW Double or Nothing 2019

Por fin llegó el tan esperado debut de la AEW con un abarrotado MGM Grand Garden Arena en Las Vegas, Nevas, boletos que se vendieron en minutos. Las expectativas eran altas, en especial cuando se comentan que pueden ser la tan necesaria competencia para WWE, aunque todavía solo son una alternativa más para los fanáticos de la lucha libre. Hay que destacar que la cartelera fue una excelente a nivel de lucha dentro del ring y todo lo que abarco a nivel de las historias que quieren desarrollar. Es difícil hablar mucho de las historias cuando aún no han estrenado programación televisiva, a pesar que ya tienen contrato con TNT, y solo se han limitado a correr episodios por YouTube. AEW sin duda llegó para quedarse y los presentes lo confirmaron con sus aplausos en cada lucha. AEW sacó A en su primer evento!
El Pre-Show contó con dos muy buenas luchas. Kip Sabian con una excelente movida final venció a otro joven talentoso en Sammy Guevara. Esta lucha me hizo recordar cuando WCW empezaba sus eventos con la tradicional lucha de cruceros. Luego de esta gran lucha, llegó el Casino Battle Royal, dónde el luchador que ganará tendría una oportunidad por el nuevo campeonato de la AEW. La leyenda y WWE HOF Bret Hart presentó el título durante la cartelera, o al menos trató antes de las interrupciones. Adam Page, para el deleite de todos, fue quién ganó esa oportunidad al eliminar MJF con dos bestiales lazos vaqueros. Esta lucha estuvo interesante y diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver en un Royal Rumble. Fue divertido ver a luchadores como Glacier, Jungle Boy, Billy Gun, Shawn Spears (Ty Dillinger), Brian Pillman Jr., Tommy Dreamer y Jimmy Havoc. La gente se metió brutal en esta lucha, especialmente coreando 10! 10! Para apoyar a Spears, quién increíblemente fue eliminado por un luchador llamado Justin Thomas. Thomas no tiene piernas y se mueve en el ring como si las tuviera. Thomas realizó un 450 y un 619 (movida de Rey Misterio Jr).
Una de las mejores luchas de la noche fue la batalla entre SCU (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian y Scorpio Sky) vs CIMA, T-Hawk y Lindaman). Estos seis se dieron con todo y el intercambio de movidas fue exquisito. SCU se apuntó el triunfo con una bonita movida final. Luego de esta lucha la gente de AEW debe estar pensando en un campeonato de tercias. Una de las grandes sorpresas fue el regreso de Awesome Kong, quien se enfrentó a Britt Baker, Kylie Rae y Nyla Rose en una excelente lucha de mujeres. Baker se llevó el triunfo con una Neck Braker.
Una lucha que sacó el grito de This is Awesome! entre los presentes fue la de The Best Friends ante Angelico y Jack Evans. Que sabrosa estuvo está lucha. Las movidas aéreas, los combos de las parejas e intercambio entre ellos y los falsos finales, vendieron está lucha como si pelearan por las fajas Mundiales en Pareja. Un aplauso a los 4 por entretener al público de esa manera. Luego de la lucha se apagaron las luces y un grupo de luchadores enmascarados atacaron sin piedas a las dos parejas. Esto pica y se extiende. Buena forma de abrir una futura historia. La lucha de damas donde Hikaru Shida, Ribo Abe y Ryo Mizunami vencieron Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki y Emi Sakura se ganó una ovación de los presentes de lo bueno que estuvo. La mujeres japoneses se robaron el show a pesar de que hubo un error en el conteo que los presentes lo dejaron saber con sus gritos. Metieron el público a ese nivel. También, si fuera AEW, pensaría en una faja de tercias Femenina. Eso es algo innovador y diferente. This is Awesome!
En una lucha de hermanos, sangrienta, donde metieron al público de campana a campana, donde los falsos finales mantuvieron a los presentes al borde de su silla y donde una ovación, los gritos de Fight Forever! y This Awesome! no fueron suficientes para describir su intensidad, Cody Rhodes derrotó a Dustin Rhodes con su Crossroads. Antes de la lucha fue curioso el mensaje enviado a la WWE y Triple H cuando Cody agarró un marrón como el que usa Triple H y rompe un trono parecido al que Triple H usará en una de sus entradas y/o historias. Eso es una buena forma de echar pique a lo que pronto llamarán su competencia. La gente lo compró y se la vivió, aunque todavía hay mucho camino que recorrer antes de hablar de competencia. Luego de la lucha Cody le pidió a su hermano mayor Dustin a unirse para enfrentar a los Young Bucks en el próximo evento. Esa fue buena!
Los Young Bucks retuvieron sus fajas en Pareja de la AAA al derrotar a Pentagón Jr. y Fenix en un clásico de lucha. Los combos, las movidas, los falsos finales, los riesgos y el involucrar el público en cada paso, hicieron de está lucha una para la historia. Los Bucks ganaron con su movida final; pero ambas parejas fueron ganadores por entretener como debe ser al que pago la taquilla y/o el evento. Aquí me quedé con ganas de más. Una serie de luchas?
Y llegamos a la estelar entre Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega. El ganador de esta lucha obtendría una oportunidad para luchar por la debutante faja de AEW ante Adam Page. A pesar de que Omega se rompió la nariz, la lucha transcurrió excelente. Buenas movidas, buenos finales, un par de errores que pasan con ficha, intensa y física. Jericho se apuntó el triunfo con su Code Breaker seguido de el Judas Effect (Back Elbow). Luego de la lucha y para sorpresa de muchos, apareció John Moxley (Dean Ambrose) para atacar tanto a Omega como a Jericho con su tradicional DDT. Moxley y Omega siguieron peleando a las afuera haste el set de decoración cerca de la rampa donde los luchadores hacian su entrada al ring. Moxley le aplicó a Omega un DDT encima de la decoración y luego lo lanzó hacia la rampa, donde cayó malamente. Tremendo final sorpresa y abren una mega puerta para una buenas historias entre los tres.

Johnny Impact & Taya Valkyrie Philadelphia Media Availability in Advance of IMPACT Wrestling Events at 2300 Arena
 
TORONTO | PHILADELPHIA – IMPACT Wrestling superstars and real-life husband and wife, Johnny Impact and Taya Valkyrie, will be in Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday, May 1-2, in advance of back-to-back nights of IMPACT Wrestling events on May 3-4 at the 2300 Arena.

Johnny and Taya will be available for in-person media interviews on May 1-2, and will have limited time those days for phone interviews with media that is not in Philadelphia.

Johnny Impact is the reigning IMPACT World Champion, as he puts the title on the line April 28 in the main event of the Rebellion pay-per-view in Toronto against “The Machine” Brian Cage.  Impact has held the title since defeating Austin Aries last October in New York City.

Born and raised in Southern California, Johnny Impact still calls Los Angeles home. He has been wrestling professionally since 2002 and has been a shining star in the U.S. and in Mexico, where he also has been competing for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. He is a crossover star too, appearing on various television shows, including Survivorin 2018. Plus, he has numerous film credits, including Boone: The Bounty Hunter, which he created, co-wrote and executive produced.

“Lucha Royalty” Taya Valkyrie is the reigning IMPACT Knockouts Champion, a title she has held since early-January after defeating Tessa Blanchard. She is set to defend the Knockouts Championship at the Rebellion pay-per-view against Jordynne Grace.

aya Valkyrie, who has been wrestling since 2010 and was trained by legendary Canadian wrestler Lance Storm, has had an illustrious career in Mexico. Competing for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, she is a former two-time and the longest-reigning Reina de Reinas Champion in history.

Johnny Impact and Taya Valkyrie were married in June 2018.

IMPACT Wrestling Presents Rebellion from Toronto Live this Sunday, April 28 on Pay-Per-View, Streams Live Globally on FITE.tv 
 
TORONTO – IMPACT Wrestling returns to pay-per-view this Sunday, April 28 for Rebellion live from the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Canada. The IMPACT World Tag Team Titles are on the line, as Champions the Lucha Brothers, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix, defend against former titleholders LAX, Santana and Ortiz, in a Full Metal Mayhem match, in what will be the final chapter of their heated rivalry.

IMPACT Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie will defend her gold against fast-rising powerhouse Jordynne Grace, who might be the one Knockout on the roster who can match power with the queen of the division.

The IMPACT X-Division Championship will also be on the line, as Rich Swann defends against oVe leader Sami Callihan. Their history runs deep and emotions will be at a peak when these two clash, as they were once as close as brothers.

IMPACT Wrestling Partners with Reality of Wrestling for Deep Impact on July 6 in Houston 

TORONTO | HOUSTON – IMPACT Wrestling teams up with Reality of Wrestling to present Deep Impact on Saturday, July 6, at the Booker T World Gym Arena near Houston, both promotions jointly announced.

Deep Impact will feature cross-promotional dream matches with the stars of IMPACT Wrestling battling the stars from Reality of Wrestling in the first-ever intra-promotional show.

Deep Impact will air live on IMPACT Wrestling’s Twitch channel.

Booker T is the owner of Reality of Wrestling, which has been training and developing top wrestlers from around the world since 2005. He had a legendary in-ring career himself, shining in WCW, WWE and IMPACT Wrestling – and he is a two-time member of the WWE Hall of Fame, including his 2019 induction with his brother Stevie Ray, as the WWE honored the 10-time tag team champions, Harlem Heat.  He was the inaugural Legends Champion and a World Tag Team Champion (with Scott Steiner) during his run with IMPACT Wrestling.

Gail Kim Toronto Media Tour Set for Friday, April 26 Before IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion Pay-Per-View 

TORONTO – One of the most decorated female wrestlers of all time, Gail Kim returns to her native Toronto to compete at the IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion pay-per-view on Sunday, April 28, at the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto.

Kim faces third-generation wrestler Tessa Blanchard in one of the most anticipated matches at Rebellion. Kim also will be at the IMPACT Wrestling show on Monday, April 29 in Toronto, as the same venue plays host to television tapings for the company’s flagship weekly TV show, IMPACT!

Kim is available for in-person interviews on Friday, April 26, in Toronto.

In 2007, Kim became the first-ever IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Champion, and her seven title reigns is the most ever. Her combined 711 days as Knockouts Champion also is a record.

Kim was inducted into the IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016, and she remains the only female honoree.

Born and raised in Toronto, Kim was a multi-sport standout at York Memorial Collegiate Institute, where she played basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer and competed in track & field. She was named the school’s Athlete of the Year.

Kim then went on to the University of Toronto, where she studied physical and health education. She also attended Ryerson University to study nutrition.

Kim trained to be a professional wrestler in Toronto and is a lifelong Blue Jays fans – Pat Borders was her favorite player.

Kim is married to celebrity chef and talk show host Robert Irvine. The two, married in 2012, met on the set of Dinner: Impossible.

The Rebellion pay-per-view emanates from Toronto, featuring reigning World Champion Johnny Impact defending the title against Brian Cage. Other matches confirmed for Rebellion include Rich Swann defending the X-Division Championship against Sami Callihan and The Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix) defending the World Tag Team Championship against former champions LAX (Santana and Ortiz).

IMPACT Wrestling Announces New UK TV Deal with 5STAR
 
TORONTO | LONDON – IMPACT Wrestling, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp., announced today a new broadcast deal with Viacom-owned Channel 5 to broadcast its flagship weekly show IMPACT! on 5STAR across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland starting on April 26, 2019.

This is a renewal of the partnership of IMPACT Wrestling’s deal with Channel 5, which launched IMPACT! on 5Spike in spring 2017. 5STAR, which is also part of the Channel 5 stable, is available on Sky TV (128), Freeview (30), Freesat (131), Virgin Media (151) and other DTT platforms.

New episodes of IMPACT! will premiere on 5STAR from 26th April at 11pm with weekly episodes airing in the same timeslot on Friday nights.
