#TacleandoLaNFL Notas recientes de la NFL

Week 1 NFL Preview
NFL KICKS OFF 100TH SEASON
To help celebrate the NFL’s 100th season, each week will feature an NFL100 Game of the Week. Each game will be a nod to a momentous game played, a fierce rivalry that spans decades, a matchup of original teams and/or a game in which history was made . The NFL has designated the Packers-Bears contest as the NFL100 GAME OF THE WEEK for Week 1. In arguably the league’s richest all-time rivalry, the Packers and Bears will meet for the 199th time, including the postseason, in a series that spans all 10 NFL decades. The franchises first met Nov. 27, 1921, when the eventual NFL champion Chicago Staleys shut out the Packers, 20-0, but Green Bay leads the series, 97-95-6. Combined, the two organizations have accounted for 22 world championships,13 for Green Bay, nine for Chicago (No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, all-time). The two teams have also combined to put 53 individuals in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, 28 from the Bears (No. 1 all-time) and 25 from the Packers (No. 2 all-time), with respect to those who spent the majority of their careers with a club.
Welcome to 2019. Expect new teams to earn playoff berths, a few consistent players and clubs to excel again, records to fall and young players to forge ahead as they introduce themselves to our collective excitement. It’s a familiar script, a story that has fueled the league’s popularity for 99 years. The blanks will be filled in come February.
What is known this week is that every team holds fast to a dream: Super Bowl LIV in Miami. And with history as an indication, every team has a legitimate shot.
  • THE FIELD IS OPEN: In 2018, two teams – the HOUSTON TEXANS (AFC South) and CHICAGO BEARS (NFC North) – won their divisions after finishing in last place the year before. In 15 of the past 16 seasons, at least one team finished in first place in its division the season after finishing in last or tied for last place.
Since the NFL expanded to 32 teams in 2002, two clubs have gone “worst to first” en route to a Super Bowl victory – the 2017 Philadelphia Eagles and the 2009 New Orleans Saints.

Since the NFL adopted the 12-team playoff format in 1990, at least four teams every season have qualified for the playoffs after failing to make the postseason the year before. Seven teams that missed the postseason in 2017 – Baltimore (10-6), Chicago (12-4), Dallas (10-6), Houston (11-5), Indianapolis (10-6), the Los Angeles Chargers (12-4) and Seattle (10-6) – earned a playoff berth in 2018.
  • MOST-EVER SUPER BOWL WINS: The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS won their sixth Lombardi Trophy last year and begin their quest to break a tie with their Kickoff Weekend opponent, thePITTSBURGH STEELERS, for the most-ever Super Bowl victories. The AFC stalwarts clash to open Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC). By winning another title this season, New England would also join Pittsburgh as the only teams to win consecutive Super Bowls on two occasions.
  • RECORDS WITHIN REACHNew Orleans quarterback DREW BREES (520) needs 20 touchdown passes and New England quarterback TOM BRADY (517) needs 23 to surpass PEYTON MANNING (539) for the most all-time. Brees (34) also needs two games of four-or-more touchdown passes to eclipse Manning (35) for the most four-touchdown games in NFL annals. And, Brees (9,783) needs 387 pass attempts to leap Pro Football Hall of Famer BRETT FAVRE(10,169) for most on the all-time list. Brady will play his 20th season with the Patriots, tying two Pro Football Hall of Famers, Washington’s DARRELL GREEN and the Rams’ JACKIE SLATER, for the second-most seasons with one franchise in NFL history. Detroit’s JASON HANSON (21) owns the league record. Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle AARON DONALD can become the first player in league history to earn three consecutive AP Defensive Player of the Year honors. With a third overall, Donald would tie J.J. WATT (2012, 2014-15) and Pro Football Hall of FamerLAWRENCE TAYLOR (1981-82, 1986) for most all-time. Buffalo Bills running back FRANK GORE(14,748) needs 522 rushing yards to surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer BARRY SANDERS(15,269) for third on the all-time list. Gore (18,544) also needs 611 yards from scrimmage to surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer MARSHALL FAULK (19,154) for fourth on the all-time list. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver LARRY FITZGERALD (1,303) needs 23 receptions to surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer TONY GONZALEZ (1,325) for second on the NFL’s all-time list. Pro Football Hall of Famer JERRY RICE (1,549) holds the career record. Fitzgerald (9) also needs 1,000 receiving yards to tie Pro Football Hall of Famer RANDY MOSS (10) for second on the NFL’s all-time list of most 1,000-yard seasons. Rice (14) holds the career record.
  • SUCCESS WITH FIRST-YEAR LEADERS: Seven teams enter this season with a new head coach, KLIFF KINGSBURY in Arizona, ZAC TAYLOR in Cincinnati, FREDDIE KITCHENS in Cleveland, VIC FANGIO in Denver, MATT LaFLEUR in Green Bay, BRIAN FLORES in Miami,ADAM GASE with the New York Jets and BRUCE ARIANS in Tampa Bay. Four rookie head coaches have led their teams to the playoffs over the last two seasons: MATT NAGY (Chicago) and FRANK REICH (Indianapolis) in 2018, and SEAN McVAY (Los Angeles Rams) and SEAN McDERMOTT (Buffalo) in 2017. Kingsbury, Kitchens, Fangio, LaFleur and Flores are all first-time head coaches in 2019.
  • FAMILIAR FACES IN NEW PLACESSeveral notable players were on the move during the offseason and preseason, including quarterbacks JOE FLACCO (Denver) and NICK FOLES(Jacksonville); running backs LE’VEON BELL (New York Jets), MARK INGRAM (Baltimore),FRANK GORE (Buffalo) and LESEAN McCOY (Kansas City); wide receivers ODELL BECKHAM JR. (Cleveland), ANTONIO BROWN (Oakland) and DeSEAN JACKSON (Philadelphia) andKENNY STILLS (Houston); tight end JARED COOK (New Orleans); tackles TRENT BROWN(Oakland) and LAREMY TUNSIL (Houston); guard RODGER SAFFOLD (Tennessee); centerMITCH MORSE (Buffalo); defensive ends EZEKIEL ANSAH (Seattle), FRANK CLARK (Kansas City), JADEVEON CLOWNEY (Seattle), TREY FLOWERS (Detroit) and CAMERON WAKE(Tennessee); defensive tackles MALIK JACKSON (Philadelphia) and GERALD McCOY(Carolina); linebackers KIKO ALONSO (New Orleans), DEE FORD (San Francisco), CLAY MATTHEWS (Los Angeles Rams), C.J. Last year, 39 players age 25 or younger as of Dec. 31, 2018, were selected to the Pro Bowl. NFL TO HOST COMMUNITY EVENTS ACROSS CHICAGO THROUGHOUT KICKOFF WEEK
Huddle for 100 Continues in Chicago with 'Huddle Up to Play it Forward'
In the lead up to the Green Bay - Chicago Kickoff game in Chicago on Thursday, the NFL will host a series of community and service events to celebrate the start of the league's centennial season.
From citywide efforts to make the community greener and cleaner to character-building initiatives, the NFL will leave a lasting impact on the city of Chicago and throughout Illinois. Members of the community will be able to participate in these activities and experience the excitement as the 100th season kicks off in their city.
Throughout the week, volunteers and NFL Legends will participate in events designed to give back to Chicago. The NFL will host its third national huddle, HUDDLE UP TO PLAY IT FORWARD as part of the NFL's Huddle for 100 campaign. The campaign is the NFL's season-long initiative to get 1 million people to donate 100 minutes of their time with the goal being 100 million minutes volunteered by Super Bowl LIV.
As part of Huddle Up to Play It Forward, there will be a DOUGLAS PARK CLEAN UP event where 300 volunteers alongside NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL and CHICAGO MAYOR LORI LIGHTFOOT will participate in a revitalization project at Douglas Park, which spans an estimated 80 acres. FUEL UP TO PLAY 60 students, program advisors and dairy farmers will take part in the volunteer event. They will be joined by Pro Football Hall of Fame members ORLANDO PACE and JOHN RANDLE and NFL Legends MARTY MOOREand LEONARD WHEELER.
NFL partner LOWE'S will donate equipment and supplies that will be used by volunteers at Douglas Park. Lowe's employees will volunteer on projects throughout the park including mulching, painting and planting to beautify and positively shape the local park for members of the community.
Following the Douglas Park refurbishment, NFL partner CAMPBELL'S SOUP will donate soup products to volunteers. Campbell's will provide a chance for two volunteers to win pairs of Bears' tickets to a game later in the season through a raffle drawing at the event. DAIRY MANAGEMENT INC. and PIZZA HUT will also provide food for the 300 volunteers that participate in the Douglas Park NFL Huddle for 100 event.
To aid in enhancing the Chicago community, the NFL FOUNDATION has committed nearly $600,000 in grant awards over the past two years to the Chicago Park District.  The NFL Foundation Grassroots Field Grant program (in partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation) allotted funding to refurbish youth football fields in Douglas Park and Ogden Park. Additionally, the NFL Foundation also will provide a grant to help with the field refurbishment project at Dunbar Park.
Also under the Huddle Up to Play it Forward umbrella, members of Boys and Girls Clubsthroughout the Chicago area will participate Wednesday in after-school activities that bring to life several Huddle Up to Play It Forward themes, including promoting healthy eating and exercise habits and creating a cleaner environment. The activity will walk volunteers through the process of decorating a recycling bin to serve as a reminder to recycle. Once the activity is complete, members can take their decorated recycling bin home or into school as an ongoing reminder to reduce waste. NFL Network Good Morning Football host KAY ADAMS will join participants in their efforts to beautify the environmental efforts of Chicago.
Additionally, the NFL will host an NFL PLAY 60 CHARACTER CAMP PRESENTED BY NATIONWIDE, led by Pro Football Hall of Fame Tackle ANTHONY MUÑOZ. The NFL PLAY 60 Character Camp program is a partnership between the NFL and the Muñoz Agency. The mission of the camps is to make a positive impact on youth through teaching football skills, emphasizing exercise, and reinforcing the importance of character in athletics and life.

Official Playing Rules of the NFL Now Available in Spanish
Official Playing Rules of the NFL Now Available in Spanish
Beginning with the NFL's 100th season, the Official Playing Rules of the NFL are now available in Spanish.  This marks the first time in NFL history that the Rulebook has been translated to another language.
The Official Playing Rules of the NFL contains all current rules governing the playing of professional football that are in effect for the 2019 NFL season.
Under the direction of Alberto Riveron, NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating, the project was led by Frank Szczepanik, NFL Officiating Special Projects Coordinator and NFL announcer Alvaro Martin, who together formed a committee comprised of some of the best-known and most respected Spanish-language NFL announcers to develop this version of the NFL Rulebook.  The committee was comprised of Raul Allegre, Enrique Burak and Joaquin Castillo.
"The translation of the NFL Rulebook to Spanish is part of the NFL's ongoing effort to engage and educate Spanish-speaking fans and media, as well as a step towards developing officiating talent in Mexico and across Latin America," Riveron said. "It was important to have Spanish-language NFL experts come together to collaborate on this project.  We were excited to have such a talented team develop the first Spanish-language NFL Rulebook."
Martin is in his third decade announcing NFL games in Spanish, having previously served as ESPN's Monday Night Football announcer for the ESPN Deportes Spanish-language U.S. broadcast, as well as for ESPN International's broadcast to viewers in Latin America.  He is now part of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Spanish-language announcing team.  Additionally, he collaborates with the NFL's officiating department in preparing content for Spanish-speaking fans around the world.
ESPN's Allegre is a nine-year NFL veteran and two-time Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants (1986 and 1990).  Since 2002, he has served as an NFL analyst for ESPN's Spanish-language NFL broadcasts across the U.S. and Latin America.
Televisa's Burak has covered a number of sports and the Olympics for almost three decades.  He is an integral part of Televisa's NFL announcing team.
TV Azteca's Castillo stood out as a college quarterback, winning two championships for Mexico's Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and later coached UNAM, thus earning the widely-used nickname "Coach."   He worked as a team general manager in Mexico's pro football league and continues to serve as TV Azteca's lead analyst.

The NFL’s 100th Season Begins: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
THE NFL'S 100TH SEASON BEGINS:
GREEN BAY PACKERS AT CHICAGO BEARS
Since the NFL launched in 1920, no other rivalry has contained more vivid history than theGREEN BAY PACKERS and CHICAGO BEARS. And since AARON RODGERS became a starter in 2008, few NFL rivalries have carried as many playoff implications.
Rodgers and rookie Packers head coach MATT LaFLEUR this week make the 34-minute flight to Chicago, where the Bears will host Thursday's historic opener (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC). The Packers have 56 wins on Kickoff Weekend, most in the NFL, including the longest active streak in the NFC, four games. Chicago's 54 Kickoff Weekend wins rank second.
Victory at venerable Soldier Field, the league's oldest stadium, has proven significant during the Rodgers era. In nine of the last 10 years, the winner of the lakefront game between these clubs has advanced to the playoffs. In seven of the last nine seasons, the winner of this Soldier Field game has gone on to win the division. And in 2010, a Windy City win in the NFC Championship also gave the Packers a trip to Super Bowl XLV.
A different team has won the NFC North each of the last three years, the NFL's only division with that distinction, and the division hasn't seen a repeat winner since 2014.
Entering this year, the Bears are kings of that hill after capturing the NFC North under their own rookie head coach, MATT NAGY, and second-year starting quarterback MITCHELL TRUBISKY, the second-overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. On the path to the postseason, Chicago finished 12-4 to capture the NFC's No. 3 seed, joining the HOUSTON TEXANS (AFC South) as the two teams to complete a "worst-to-first" turnaround in 2018.In 15 of the past 16 seasons, at least one team has won its division the season after finishing in last place.
Thursday also marks the Bears' first game under new defensive coordinator CHUCK PAGANO. The former Colts head coach inherits a unit that led the NFL in fewest points allowed (17.7 per game), takeaways (36), interceptions (27), interception touchdowns (five), fewest rushing yards (80.0 per game) and fewest net yards per pass play (5.3). KYLE FULLER tied for the league lead with seven interceptions and EDDIE JACKSON tied for the league lead with two interception-touchdowns. Meanwhile, KHALIL MACK (12.5 in 2018) is one of just three NFL players with at least 10 sacks in each of the last three seasons.
